If you are in business or hoping to start one you can’t afford to miss the We Mean Business Expo and Ecodrive Motor Show 2105 at Fairfield Halls in Croydon on Wednesday, October 14.
The biggest event on south London’s business calendar, the Expo will showcase 100 businesses and attract more than 1,000 visitors over the course of this feature-packed day.
The forecourt of Fairfield Halls will be transformed into the showroom for Eco Drive 2015, a motor show for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly modes of transport – from bicycles and electric bikes to some of the most advanced ‘green energy’ cars on the market.
A speed networking event at last year's expo
Inside the event, the day starts with a VIP Breakfast with special guest speaker, Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central. This is followed by a busy programme of business advice seminars and workshops, a series of speed-networking sessions and an Innovation Hub for tech sector firms. Tickets for the main event are FREE (VIP Breakfast tickets are extra) and if you register online, you could be in with the chance of winning an iPad mini.
“This is an exciting time for businesses in Croydon - the growth we are set to see over the next five years promises to deliver huge benefits to small businesses in our borough,” Councillor Toni Letts, Croydon’s Cabinet Member for Economy & Jobs.
“Already this year we have increased the Croydon Enterprise Loan Fund, which provides funding to SMEs unable to access finance, to £4m. We have also been awarded social enterprise status, in recognition of the number of businesses in the borough that are run for the benefit of the community.

The exhibitors will cover a whole range of business sectors ranging from innovative technology companies to multi-nationals such as HSBC.
Three seminars across the day will focus on key issues for local business people. At 11am the Gatwick Procurement Team will discuss opportunities at the airport.
At 12.30pm Sussex Innovation Centre will introduce a session presented by experts and academics on sustainable business growth and bringing new ideas to market. The final seminar at 2.30pm, will be led by Beaufort Consulting on Pension Auto-enrolment and the implications for businesses.
Elsewhere at the Expo, the Business Navigator Growth Hub, in association with Prevista and Coast2Capital, will be hosting a series of free Business Advice Clinics. While Ikea is supporting the popular Business Speed Networking sessions, which is a bit like speed dating for companies.
Sussex Innovation – Croydon is sponsoring a new Innovation Hub which will feature some of the most exciting and innovative businesses that Croydon has to offer, as well as demonstrating new products, services and technologies.
Katharine Glass, director of Expo organisers, White Label Creative, said: “Not only is the Expo a great opportunity to make new business contacts and get top-quality business advice, it’s also a huge amount of fun.”
